Your camera is fantastic and the shot is beautifully composed. I took a similar shot with a Canon Powershot S5, the results weren't nearly as clear or defined. Fantastic work here. :+fav:

I got the EOS 600mm f4.0L to shoot the space shuttle last year [link] and it was worth it. Now it's mainly useful for nature photography and the occasional celestial phenomenon.

Thanks for the comment :-)

Thats quite the lens attachment. XD

I'm hoping to get myself an SLR one of these days, I had originally intended that but found that my photographic skills needed improvement before I could justify spending 1K on equipment.

The S5 is an adequate mid-range camera, I think im beginning to find my feet with it.

Thanks for the response :)

My best advice is to get a used DSLR that has a manual setting (something like a 20D goes on eBay for $100 [link] ) plus a zoom lens (again eBay $82 [link] ).

That gives you the ability to learn about exposure and framing without spending the $800 it takes to get a new Rebel.

Canon and Nikon have the largest families of product... pick the brand that most of your friends have -- that way you can borrow lenses and attachments :-)

You can get comfortable with ISO, f-stop, shutter speed and depth-of-field for only a few hundred. New cameras come out so rapidly these days that the "gently used" stuff is really good.

I am so glad you got to capture this one! I was outside with my binoculars during the entire special event! What a great morning with completely clear skies for our Moon to overlap Venus! :+fav:! :)

Regardless of the camera (single-use or digital) you happen to have in your hand, what matters is that you are able to capture the moment! Otherwise, you'd miss out on this very experience that can serve as a great photo 'reinforcement' to your memories!

i loves it so much. the moon is a power symbol for me and i love seeing it this way <3

Thanks for that advice, very much appreciated! Sorry for the late reply, was kinda busy the last few days.
